A Conversation with Mulchand: Turning a Stone into a Lesson

Selection Stories

Hello dear reader,

By the time I’m posting this conversation, Someone Dedication has reached 165 days.

Today, I’m sharing a conversation that started because of a reel. Most people see it as funny, random, or even a little absurd. But sometimes, inspiration hides in the most unexpected places.

If you use Instagram, you’ve probably come across a video where a person repeatedly kicks a stone, trying to shape it into a perfect sphere. The stone has even been given a name — Mulchand Ji.

Curious about the purpose behind such content, I reached out to the creator. To my surprise, they responded quickly and were very cooperative. I wanted to understand what drives someone to perform the same task every single day, from Day 1 to Day 164. What does it mean? What does it prove? Is it just a joke, or is there a deeper lesson about persistence and commitment?

Let’s find out through this conversation.

And one more thing—the person has chosen to remain anonymous for now. They have their own milestone in mind and plan to reveal their identity when the time feels right.

So, without further ado, let’s begin.

Q1) Tell me about your content. Why did you choose this idea, and what does the stone represent?

Mulchand: My channel, Stone Journey, is built around a simple but powerful idea—turning a rough stone into a perfect sphere through daily effort. The stone represents our goals, while the journey represents discipline, consistency, and dedication. Through this challenge, I want to show that if a person remains committed to their ambitions, they can achieve things that seem impossible.

Q2) How do people usually react to your content? Do they understand the real message behind it?

Mulchand: People’s reactions depend on their mindset. Some viewers understand the deeper message about hard work, dedication, and perseverance. Others see it purely as entertainment. There are also people who criticize without understanding the purpose behind the content. In the end, everyone interprets it through their own perspective.

Q3) How does your daily routine look—from morning till night?

Mulchand: My routine usually starts around 10 AM, although my sleep schedule varies because I spend a lot of time editing videos and researching content ideas. After breakfast, I head out for my daily kicking session. Earlier, I would spend nearly three hours and cover around 8–9 kilometers. Due to the summer heat, I now spend about 1–1.5 hours and cover roughly 5–6 kilometers. After returning home, I rest, edit videos, watch educational or entertaining content, have dinner, and usually sleep between 2 and 4 AM.

Q4) Why did you choose the name ‘Mulchand Ji’ for the stone?

Mulchand: People naturally connect with funny and memorable names. “Mulchand” was a nickname my family often used for me during my childhood. Although I wasn’t always fond of it back then, I decided to use it because it adds humor and personality to the journey.

Q5) Do you ever feel like giving up while doing such a long challenge?

Mulchand: Like anyone else, I have difficult days. Sometimes I face negativity, online abuse, or even physical pain while working on the challenge. There were times when my legs became swollen from repeatedly kicking the stone. However, I never seriously thought about quitting. I believe that struggles are a part of life, and facing them with courage is what helps us grow.

Q6) How much water do you consciously drink every day?

Mulchand: Staying hydrated is very important, especially during summer. I usually carry three bottles—one with glucose water, one with regular water, and another filled with ice to keep the water cool throughout the day. On average, I drink around 9–10 liters of water daily.

Q7) As you say that dedication and hard work can achieve anything, have you ever worked hard and still not achieved the result you wanted?

Mulchand: Yes, because not everything is within our control. We cannot make everyone understand or appreciate our work. What we can control is our effort and sincerity. I believe in doing my work honestly without making excuses. Results may not come immediately, but if you never try, you will never achieve anything.

Q8) What is the biggest realization you’ve had in life so far?

Mulchand: My biggest realization is that I should have started this journey earlier. However, I am still grateful that I started. Many people spend years thinking about what they want to do but never take action. The first step is always the most important one because nothing changes until you begin.

Q9) What is one habit you consider your biggest weakness right now?

Mulchand: I trust people too easily. Even when I know someone may not be completely honest, I often choose to help them without thinking twice. If I see someone in need, I naturally feel the urge to help. While kindness is important, learning when and whom to trust is something I still need to improve.

Q10) What is your definition of success?

Mulchand: For me, success is simply being alive and able to experience this moment. Every day, people face illness, accidents, hunger, and countless hardships. The fact that I am here, able to live, work, and pursue my goals, is already a form of success. I don’t believe that money and material possessions alone define success. Life itself is the greatest achievement.
