A Conversation with Abbas – on Business and Digital Marketing

Selection Stories

In today’s world, everywhere you look there’s noise about digital marketing and social media marketing. Yet, despite spending huge amounts of money, many companies still fail to achieve the right goals.

That’s exactly why I chose to have a conversation with Abbas Kapasi, a man with over 13 years of experience in both the digital marketing and IT space. I felt this topic needed to be explored deeply, so I asked him a few questions that I believe can help many of you. Abbas has helped countless businesses grow their online presence, and he loves talking to business owners for hours — understanding their business, processes, and marketing challenges, and helping them overcome those hurdles through smart strategies.

Abbas has conducted 50+ free webinars and seminars, mentored thousands of students and hundreds of professionals through W3 Marketing School, and served as a visiting faculty at various colleges. His mentorship journey still continues — and it’s driven by the same passion: to make businesses succeed in a noisy digital world.

Q1) What’s your core philosophy when it comes to digital marketing?

Abbas: Digital marketing is about connecting with the right audience in the most efficient and measurable way possible to achieve business goals. It’s not just about being present online — it’s about being intentional, data-driven, and customer-focused.

Q2) SEO vs Paid Ads — when should a business prioritize one over the other?

Abbas: It depends on the stage of the business.

For new businesses: Immediate visibility and customer acquisition are critical. Since SEO takes time to show results, it’s wise to prioritize paid ads initially, while building a strong SEO foundation in the background.

For stable businesses: With an existing customer base, it’s important to balance both. Continue running performance-driven ads for scale, but also invest in SEO for sustainable, long-term growth and organic credibility.

Q3) What are some common mistakes businesses make while trying to scale?

Abbas: One of the biggest mistakes is scaling without a clear, data-backed strategy. Many skip learning from their past campaigns and jump into expansion without understanding what truly works for their audience.

Q4) How much water do you drink in a day?

Abbas: Around 2.5 liters — that’s what my body typically needs.

Q5) Can you explain what W3 Marketing School is in very simple terms for someone who’s new to digital marketing?

Abbas: W3 Marketing School is a training institute that focuses purely on digital marketing. We focus on building real, results-driven digital marketers who understand strategy, creativity, and execution.

Q6) What are some practical tips you’d give to small bloggers or business owners to boost their presence through social media marketing?

Abbas:

  • Be consistent — whether it’s 3 posts a week or 1 a day, consistency matters more than perfection.

  • Keep experimenting with new formats, trends, and storytelling styles.

  • Focus on value — even if 100 people see your post, if it resonates, it’s a win.

Q7) Can you share a live demo or actionable strategy that could help improve my blog, Abhirah, or similar platforms?

Abbas:

  • Write strong hooks that build curiosity about the person.

  • Use real images of the person in your listing view.

Story Pages: Add audio narration using AI tools for every story to improve engagement.

Overall Blog: Work on UI/UX. Even black and white is fine, but enhance typography, spacing, and layout for better readability. Ensure basic on-page SEO is implemented — title tags, meta descriptions, image alt texts, and internal linking.

Q8) Where do most brands usually go wrong with their digital marketing? Do you think many jump in without a clear strategy?

Abbas: Many treat digital marketing like a magic wand. But in reality, it’s a long-term commitment. Most brands skip the fundamentals like understanding their audience, defining their core message, and testing various strategies before scaling. Strategy always comes first.

Q9) What kind of services do you offer to brands or businesses as a consultant?

Abbas: I focus mainly on two areas:

  • Performance Marketing (Meta Ads, Google Ads, etc.) — for fast, measurable growth

  • SEO Strategy — for long-term visibility and credibility
I also consult on funnel design, audience targeting, and creative strategy, depending on the brand’s maturity.

Q10) You’ve built a strong career in the digital education space. With so much talk about AI these days, what are some fields or skills that are still relevant and worth learning — especially for people in their mid-30s who want to grow or restart their careers?

Abbas: Learn the fundamentals of how businesses work — from customer psychology to marketing funnels. These principles remain constant even as tools and tech change. Combine that with AI literacy, content creation, or digital strategy, and you’ll have a strong edge in today’s market.

Q11) What is your biggest realization in life so far?

Abbas: Know your worth and learn to say “No” when something doesn’t align with your values or goals.

Q12) Give one financial advice that you’ve learned.

Abbas: Be mindful of spending. Don’t waste money on unnecessary things. Save money. If you’re starting a business, keep it asset-light.

Q13) What is your definition of success?

Abbas: If you are happy with what you have achieved, that’s success.
